Bookish Book Club book for August of 2022!
Join us at The Carter on Thursday, August 25th from 6-8 PM as we read Undermining: A Wild Ride Through Land Use, Politics, and Art in the Changing West by award-winning author, art historian, and social critic Lucy R. Lippard.
Admission is free, but registration is required.
Working from her own experience of life in a New Mexico village, Lippard addresses a number of fascinating themes―including fracking, mining, land art, adobe buildings, ruins, Indian land rights, the Old West, tourism, photography, and water. Undermining offers a provocative new perspective on the relationship between art and place in a rapidly shifting society. Carter curator Spencer Wigmore will lead a private tour of various artworks in the Carter’s collection that connect to the book before we dive into discussion.
